Elyria controlled and passed the ball much better than Lorain High in a 8-2 home victory on Monday afternoon.

Elyria's aggressive attack resulted in a 16-3 advantage in shots on goal over the Titans. Senior Ryan Kaplan and junior Bryce Ziegman and freshman Isaiah Walton had two goals each. Junior Connor Mariner and senior Brendan Centeno each added one.

On defense, the Pioneers only allowed five total shots, and goalkeeper Cedric Holt only had to make two saves. The Titans' defense was slow to react to runs made by the Pioneers, resulting in numerous fast breaks. Lorain did draw Elyria offsides and astounding 13 times in the game.

Elyria started and ended both halves strongly, scoring the final three goals in each. The Pioneers led 5-1 after the first 40 minutes.

Elyria improved its record to 7-5 and take on Garfield Heights at home on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
