Two overtimes were not enough to decided a winner between Wellington and host Lake Ridge. The score was still tied 1-1 when darkness interrupted the Division III district opening boys soccer game. The game will resume today at 4:30 p.m. at Lake Ridge Academy.The winner plays at Open Door on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Fairview 2, Vermilion 0: Fairview scored twice in the second half to defeat Vermilion 2-0 in the opening round of the D-II Rocky River District.
After a scoreless first half, Adrian Bendo and James Roland both scored for the Warriors who had 20 shots on goal compared to Vermilion’s seven.
Vermilion goal keeper Adrian Wilson had 18 saves while Fairview’s Kentaro Kimoto saved all seven he faced. Vermilion’s season ended at 5-9-3. Fairview (9-6-2) will play at Rocky River on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Buckeye 2, Firelands 0: The Bucks scored twice to end the Falcons season in the D-II Rocky River District game. Buckeye will travel to Elyria Catholic to play the Panthers on Saturday at 7 p.m.
