With first place on the line in Bay Village, the Rockets were dominant in defeating Midview 3-0.

Bay had trailed Midview by 1/2 game in the West Shore Conference going into the contest, and wasted no time in seizing control of the contest.

The Rockets won 25-11, 25-16 and 26-24, and Katie McFeeley was a dominant passer for Bay with 43 assists in the victory.

With the win, Bay now takes control of the West Shore Conference, and Elyria Catholic's 3-0 win over North Ridgeville, a win in which the Panthers only lost 19 points all match, vaulted them into a second place tie with Midview.

Bay has won 10 in a row and has a chance to put things out of reach potentially when they face EC on Oct. 11.

Midview's remaining schedule includes matchups Vermilion and North Ridgeville, which are the two worst teams in the WSC.

But this win was humongous for Bay as they have now put themselves in the driver's seat for the WSC title.

The two-time defending WSC champions may have lost their first conference match this season since 2008, but they still have a great shot to take the West Shore once again.

It will all come down likely to that Bay-Elyria Catholic showdown in two weeks.

Avon Lake 3, Amherst 0: The Shoregals are now 15-0 and they continue to be a buzzsaw in the Southwestern Conference. Katie Mahalik had 12 kills and 9 blocks in the win.

Brookside 3, Brooklyn 0: Brookside continues to roll through the Patriot Athletic Conference, staying perfect through 11 conference games. Morning Journal Player of the Week Gabby Piwowar had 22 assists and Jeanine Musall had 13 kills for the Cardinals.

Keystone 3, Fairview 0: Keystone continues to keep Brookside in their sights in the PAC with a hard-fought win against Fairview. They will face the first place Cardinals on October 6.


Lorain 3, Shaw 0: The Titans were dominant against Shaw to improve to 7-1 in the LEL, and 12-3 overall on the season. Alexis Castro had 9 serving aces in the win.

Edison 3, Oak Harbor 0: The Chargers continue to hold their perch atop the Sandusky Bay Conference defeating the Rockets handily, allowing only 27 points. Elise Gastier had 28 service points and 18 setting assists for Edison.
