Western Reserve's Johnson doesn't place in long jump

Western Reserve senior Darren Johnson got off to a rough start at the 2011 State Track and Field Championships, at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus, on Friday June 3.

Johnson, who qualified for four individual events, participated in the long jump in Division II but failed to place in the top eight.

Johnson fouled on one of his three attempts and his best jump of the day was 20-10.75. He finished 12th in the event.

Johnson will participate in the 200, 400 and high jump on Saturday.

Elyria Catholic senior Zach Rogers also failed to qualify in the high jump.

Rogers completed all three jumps, but his best distance was 20-09.75, which was good for 14th place.

Leavittsburg LaBrae senior Andre Elkins won the Division II long jump with a distance of 22-05.75.
