Demons win SWC softball title
Westlake (17-9) won the SWC with a 10-4 record. Amherst, North Olmsted and Olmsted Falls all tied for second with five losses.
“It was very balanced this season,” Westlake head coach Tom Shiban said. “Top to bottom it was really competitive. We pitched well and played pretty good defense. We had a lot of contributors. The girls did a great job being unselfish. It was a team effort.”
Jesse Moracz was 12-7 with a 2.78 ERA as the team’s top pitcher. Abbie Tetzlaff lead the team with a .427 batting average, 23 runs scored and 30 stolen bases. Hanna Kopack is leading the team with 24 RBI and 13 doubles. Demons had a big years from Erin Thomas (.373), Kelly Matousek (.369) and Julia Kosco (.351) with 19 runs scored and batted in.
