Rockets on a roll

The Bay Rockets (11-15, 7-6) won four games in row with the post seaso about to start. With a win, bay would finish second in the West Shore Conference. Sarah Balach leads the team with a .310 average and 13 RBI. Meghan Kevesdy leads the team in wins (7) and strikeouts (135).

"We played a very difficult non-conference schedule this year with most games against DI schools," head coach Shannon Andrews said. "It was a struggle early on to get the girls to believe in there abilities and that just because we lost doesn't mean we are a bad team. (We were playing teams that have girls that have been playing softball year round at a high level since they were 7-8 years old. It is finally changing in Bay, more and more girls are playing over the summer on travel teams, etc... ) They started to realize that they were in control of their own destiny and when we matched up with the teams in our conference we were more experienced against some high level softball. At the turn of the conference we started off losing 5-3 to Midview and 5-2 to Vermilion. After that weekend we made it a goal to not lose another conference game, so far so good!

"The girls peaked at the right time of the season. It is not just 1 or 2 players everyone has accepted their role and it is whatever is best for the team. They truly enjoy being together and that makes things alot easier for a coach. We took a trip down to the Cincinnati area this spring break and that served as a big team bonding experience. Played some good teams down there, Lakota East, Lakota West and Kings."
