Firelands takes Clearview Holiday tournament

GIRLS HOOPS
Teresa Davis scored a game-high 22 points and eights rebounds to lead Firelands over Clearview 45-31 to win the Clearview Holiday tournament.
Neither team shot well from the floor, the Falcons got to foul line 27 times and the defense held the Clippers to single digit scoring in all four quarters.
The Falcons are now 5-3, while Clearview drops to 2-2.

In the consolation game of the Clearview Holiday tournament, Vermilion handily defeated Max Hayes by the score of 71-26
Katelyn Peterson and Katie Karres paced the Sailors with 13 points apiece, while Alex Shuster finished with 12. Vermilion improves to 5-3 on the season.

BOYS HOOPS

In boys hoops action, Southview traveled to Parma and lost a shootout to the Redmen 85-76.
Charles Flectcher led the Saints with 22 points and Mike Davila added 20.
The Saints battled back from a 10-point deficit at halftime, but fell victim to excellent free throw shooting by Parma. The Redmen were 9 of 9 from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter and 19 of 22 (86 percent) for the game.
Southview falls to 3-2 on the season.

Brookside got its first win of the season behind Nick Jackman's 32 points againt Patriot Athletic Conference opponent Black River 74-58. Hunter Skolnicki had a solid game for the Cardinals as he finished with 14 points.

Avon got 20 points from R.J. Kaufman and 17 from Claude Gray to beat Rocky River 67-44 in West Shore Conference play. The Eagles are now 3-3.
